Lovely timber with heartwood that varies from rich red to reddish-brown.
The colouring improves with age (providing well maintained) It has a fine,
straight, close grain with narrow brown pith flecks and small gum pockets.

 Danish Oil or Varnish
To keep your sign looking young we apply 3 coats of Danish oil to protect against the weather. This also helps to prevent cracking and movement in the wood. To maintain the sign, rub over another coat of Danish Oil, a minimum of three times a year. In exposed situations or if the wood starts to look dry, give extra coats. It is very easy to do and only takes a couples of minutes. We can supply you with Danish Oil if you are unable to obtain it locally.

If prefered we can varnish the sign. However this does not last forever and will need rubbing down and re-varnishing as necessary.

Rustic timber slices make interesting house signs. Each piece of timber is different so each sign is individual. The bark is left on and the top surface is varnished. They are made in three sizes and the lettering can be in any one of our many fonts. Letters can be carved or applied in vinyl. Various timber used.

Laminated Westen Red Cedar with a high quality vertical grain - just over 1.5inches thick. This timber is also ideal for sand blasting away the background to leave the letters raised. The letters can be left plain or coloured.The background can be treated for a rich finish or left untreated to weather to a beautiful silver grey colour.
